From your Guide

If there's something the world needs more now than ever, it's balance... a call to a healthier relationship with rest, self care, and our bodies.

And, at the same time, we are each called to develop our strength and resilience... our confidence to stand in our own two shoes and offer ourselves boldly, wholeheartedly to the moment.

As someone who has worked in different facets of the fitness industry for over 12 years, I can say that this balance is hard to find... We either push ourselves endlessly towards burnout, or miss the opportunity for meaningful effort altogether.

Yin Strength centers around a practice of embodied strength training to deepen physical and emotional resilience with an underpinning of self care.

This class brings together a lifetime of professional and personal experience from my early studies in Exercise Science to my most recent training as a mindfulness meditation teacher.

I can't wait to have you there...

Additional Info

Who is this for?

Yin Strength is open to all levels of experience and is especially great for those who are newer to strength training or have felt intimidated in the past. This does not mean the workouts are easy, just that they are accessible, tailored, educational, and fun.

Some common goals include:

  • feel confident & strong

  • support healthy bones, muscles, & metabolism

  • move well with my kids/grandkids

  • reduce injury & pain

  • connect to my body

  • support mood, energy, & mental health

Is this a women's strength class?

All genders and bodies are invited to attend. Yin Strength invites us to explore the strength and softness that resides in each of us, no matter your physiology or how you present.

Jen is passionate about educating and empowering women to live more in harmony with their female physiology. While this is not the central focus of the class, it is something you can expect support around if it applies.

How is this different from regular group fitness?

Think of Yin Strength as a small group cost-share of an experienced personal trainer & guide.

You will receive individualized coaching and support tailored around your goals at the fraction of Jen's 1:1 session rate (up to $200/hr). Expect progressions each week as you evolve within the growing container of the group.

What is the class flow?

Each class moves through an arc beginning with gentle movement and breath, followed by bodyweight strength & stability, a heavier strength challenge, and a winddown moment to leave you feeling balanced and restored.

While each class begins with a plan, it is open to pivot depending on the energy and desires of the each person.

What's the Vision?

This two-part series is an introduction to a weekly strength group that will form in early June. Because strength training benefits from regular practice, you are encouraged to join us weekly once the recurring group begins.

Come for one or both of the intro sessions to see if the class will be a good fit for you!

What to bring?

Wear comfy clothes to move freely, and bring your own water bottle to save on disposable cups. Feel free to bring a journal or notebook if you'd like to take notes.

Where is the class held?

Yin Strength is pleased to call Root & Branch Bodywork it's current home! This is a beautiful, therapeutic space in Mt Airy, Philadelphia that serves up excellent bodywork services alongside it's movement & strength training areas.

6618 Germantown Ave,

Philadelphia, PA 19119
